The $700 Gaming PC Battle – AMD vs Intel

Image
Last week we built a gaming PC for around $700, more specifically an Intel gaming PC, and a lot of you guys were disappointed by that because we didn’t go with a  Ryzen config. But I mentioned how I was going to compare that Intel system to an AMD based system for about the same price to see what the performance differences are in gaming and some other tests. I’ve picked my parts for AMD and I ran my benchmarks. Looking at those numbers, it really is eye-opening, and I think I’ve come up with a better conclusion. Let’s take a look at that.   Intel Gaming PC Parts List Here’s a quick rundown on the parts list that I use for the Intel build. The CPU is the Core i5 9400F featuring six cores without hyper-threading. For memory, I went with Corsair Vengeance 16GB LPX kit clocked at 2666 megahertz. The motherboard of choice was the ASRock B365M Phantom Gaming 4. For storage, I went with the Silicon Power A80 NVMe SSD. The GPU choice was the EGA GTX 1660 SC Ultra and powering the entir

The Most AFFORDABLE Gaming PC We’ve Built!

Image
Today we’re building a gaming PC and the best part is that it’s not going to cost you an arm and a leg. In fact, the parts list for this PC came to around $700 with mail-in rebates, which is pretty sweet come to think of it. We haven’t done a sub $1,000 gaming PC build in a really long time. Now before I jump into the parts list, I do want to mention something very important. This is a gaming PC and I want to emphasize gaming because that’s ultimately what we’re going for- it’s not necessarily something that’s geared for streaming or content creation. In fact, if you’re looking for something that can do all of that, you might have to spend a few extra hundred dollars to achieve that. Also, please note that these were the prices when we bought the components so they may change over time. CPU This gaming PC is built around Intel’s B365 platform, and I’m sure most of you might’ve not heard of that, but it exists. Before you guys started raging in the comments, hear me out for a secon

HyperX Alloy Origins Review – Are These NEW Switches Worth It

Image
Not to be confused with the alloy FPS RGB or the Alloy Elite RGB, this is the HyperX Alloy Origins. Yes, that’s a lot of alloys to keep track of. But we first saw this keyboard debut back at Computex this year and the big deal with this keyboard is the implementation of custom design switches by HyperX and they’re calling it Linear Reds. I’m not surprised because a lot of these gaming companies are coming with their own switch designs, some modify existing switch designs from a Kalih, Gator, or Omron, and some other companies perhaps wouldn’t mention who’s oil is humming their switches – I’ll touch on my experience using them later in this article. I’m also a little bit confused as to where this keyboard stacks up within the rest of the keyboard lab from HyperX because it’s priced at $110 and that’s $30 more expensive than the HyperX Alloy FPS without RGB, but the Alloy FPS with RGB costs the same price. I’m not sure if they’re competing within themselves, but at the same time you’r
